Cork Menopause Clinic was established to help anyone concerned or troubled by menopause / perimenopause symptoms and effects. It is open to patients referred from other GPs/Consultants*. We operate on an appointment only basis.

*excepting registered patients of Blackrock Medical Centre who should make an enquiry to Mary Andrews in the first instance.

What Does A Consultation Entail?

Depending on the complexity of each case and clinical need, the overall time at the Clinic can vary.  However, first-time patients should allow a minimum of 1 hour for an appointment. A full first-time menopause consultation covers the following:

  • A thorough, detailed medical history-taking exercise incorporating presenting symptoms, quality of life assessment, cancer risk and contraception;
  • A clinical examination including breast and pelvis, if indicated;
  • Blood tests (preferably fasting) including hormone profile, if indicated;
  • Fracture & osteoporosis risk assessment;
  • Lifestyle review and advice;
  • Discussion regarding individual benefits and risks of HRT / other treatments;
  • Prescription for HRT, if indicated;
  • Management & follow-up plan.

With effect from 1st August 2021, an appointment at Cork Menopause Clinic costs €250 which includes:

  • Phone or Zoom consultation, 40 to 60 minutes, with Dr O’Driscoll
  • Physical visit within 2 weeks of the above for examination & bloods if indicated
  • Referrals for diagnostics if indicated
  • Prescriptions if required

A physical follow-up/review consultation is recommended at 6 weeks. The fee for this appointment is €100 and includes a Discharge Letter back to your own GP with management plan.

Requests for additional consultations outside of the above are charged at a rate of €100.

An €50 deposit is required to secure an appointment which is offset from the overall cost.
